I'll admit, I usually let the clothes "speak" to me when I go shopping. The ones that do, end up going home with me and the ones that don't obviously get left behind. Over the years, I have accumulated enough knowledge and sensibility to know what will work and what won't work on myself. As such, when I go shopping, I am usually very decisive and generally fairly efficient. This neon colour would most likely be one of those that would catch my attention, but would have ultimately been left behind. To me, neon lime green in particular is a challenging colour to work with, but after playing around with the pairing a little, I am happy to say that I can step out without feeling like I must go and "highlight" something =P .
My tips on wearing neon colours:
- New neon adopters should consider starting on smaller neon pieces, perhaps a neon coloured belt to add a pop colour
- If you are wearing a neon top or dress, try and keep your accessory colours relatively minimal. Bright clothing with overly bright accessories can look a little too busy and chaotic altogether
- If you are not wearing a one piece neon coloured clothing, try pairing your neon colours with some neutral colours (e.g., black, white, navy, grey)
- If you don't like to shy away from colours and are looking for some serious colour pairing ideas, I suggest electric tangerine paired with sky blue, or a warm chartreuse and peach combo
