Red Peplum with Blackjack

Hi everyone! Despite the dreary start, I hope you are having a fabulous Monday! Winter is such a great time of the year to let your accessories come out to play, and incorporate them as winter highlights to your wardrobe. Hats, scarves, gloves, mittens and boots just to name a few, but don't forget your stockings and even umbrellas! You can put together some really fun and interesting looks using accessories as accents. I came across these playful stockings the other day, immediately, I thought to myself that I should wear them to a fancy dress up party. Maybe a character from "Alice in Wonderland"? As it turns out, I didn't need an occasion to wear them because they are so blithe to wear any day!

I love stockings and tights because they are what I call a "multi-tasker". They keep me warm in the cold and  can be doubled up as an accessory to complete an outfit. In my wardrobe, I have a special section just to "house" all the stockings that I own. I even have them divided based on their denier variations. Yes, a little stocking nerdy I must admit =P

Peplum silhouette is a hot current trend. Tops, skirts, dresses and jackets have all undergone a peplum makeover recently. In case you are not familiar, peplum refers to a piece with a ruffle around the waist. It adds volume while creating a flattering hourglass shape. I thought a cute peplum red skirt would go like butter on bread with these playful stockings. If you are also hunting down something peplum, make sure you try it on! Due to their structure, you just never know how they are going to look until they are on you. Since peplum can be voluminous, try and pair it with more sleek and streamlined pieces such as skinny jeans.

What's your favourite winter accessory and how are you wearing/pairing them?
