A lilac Corset for the Perfect Date

Hi everyone! Happy Monday! Hope you all had a relaxing weekend and are now ready for another brand new week! Today is a very special day in my diary. One year ago today, I put on a pretty little white gown, walked down the aisle, smiled and said "I do" to my best friend - hubby dearest, in front of our families and closest friends. It was one of the happiest days of our lives and we were and still are so blessed to always have our families and friends surrounding us. I know this is a fashion dedicated blog, so I want to thank you  for letting me share with you some of the best moments of my life :)

As a one year celebration, hubby and I decided to go out on a date, just like the good old times. So both of us got dressed up to go and enjoy a fabulous dinner at Vue de Monde in Melbourne. A little while ago, I found this interesting corset top and fell in love with the design and the colour. The corset's structured look from boning stitch details is a contrast against the soft sweet heart neckline, a fun ruffle hemline, as well as the very feminine lilac hue.

For centuries, women, as well as men (yes, it's true) used the corset as a mean to shape their bodies into what they believed at the time, the perfect shape. As such, traditionally, they were strictly worn only as an undergarment, however, in recent years, the term "corset" has been borrowed by the fashion industry to refer to fashion inspirations, such as a corset top that mimics the look of traditional corsets without actually acting as oneToday, what we know as the traditional corset is still produced and can be used to enhance the figure, however, it does have other less orthodox uses.
Personally, I find the corset to be a slightly challenging fashion piece to wear on its own, especially the classic variety; however, they are a lot of fun and can be such an adventurous fashion statement. A true corset is very much part of couture history and you will still find it to be part of some designer's couture gowns. Its evolution meant that we can now enjoy wearing the corset as a fun piece of fashion item at an acceptable comfort level =)

OK, I'm all ready and about to step out for my dinner date tonight. A historical fashion icon is the inspiration for tonight's historic anniversary. Before I sign off, just want to say a special thank you to hubby for being so patient, for all the kind support he has given me (especially his time dedicated to the growth of this blog), for making me laugh so hard, for all these reasons and so much more, I am forever grateful!
