Classic Black

Hi everyone, hope you are having an awesome week! I can't believe it's already August and summer is coming to an end. We are really lucky that this summer in NYC has been quite pleasant with many breezy days without too much humidity. We also went through a beautiful spring season this year with cherry blossoms that bloomed for weeks. As we approach fall, I thought it would be appropriate to start thinking about my fall wardrobe. It's not often that I wear black, but when I do, I love keeping the style classic and add in accent pieces :)

I'll admit that in my closet I have very few all black items, but a Little Black Dress (LBD) goes a long way and will always be a favorite (also see here). This faux leather dress is one of those classic pieces that you can wear for years to come. I love the simplicity of this dress; the minimalist style makes it truly effortless and timeless.

I think leather makes a fabulous transitional item and can instantly toughen up your ensemble, but a LBD in all leather can be challenging to style. By itself it can come across heavy and overwhelming. The classic cut of this dress balances the overpowering material, and I also softened the leather look with some added silk and more delicate accessories ;)

I hope you are enjoying the end of your summer, and are making as many trips to the beach as possible to soak up the last bit of summer sunshine. As we welcome the new season, I hope you will enjoy experimenting with textured pieces like leather to build a strong foundation for your fall closet!
