Fluffy, Warming, Fur Vest

Hi everyone! Hope you are having a fabulous Thursday! Melbourne has been extremely kind to us this week with the weather. Ok, so it's still chilly out there but at least the sun's out most days during the week, and everything is just so much better when the sun's out! =) As we move well and truly into winter, one wardrobe item I find that is glamorous but also incredibly functional is...the opulent fur vest. I purchased this luscious little number a while ago in preparation for the winter and have been waiting for the perfect climate to showcase her. As you can see, she thrives in the cold, strengthens against in the wind and embraces the "wild".

Despite its perception of being lavish and sophisticated, I think there is another dimension to the fur vest. I see it as also being very down to earth, primal and heart warming. Having said this, I am very thankful that the fur vest has evolved to be more of a fashion statement rather than just a shield against the elements.

It is true, there is something about wearing fur that instantly glamorises an outfit. Depending on your preferences, you can purchase either real or faux fur vests. Whether it is real or fake, this stately piece can add the right amount of sophistication to a number of your outfits. I am a huge animal lover, so I have not been able to convince or commit myself to wearing an exotic real fur vest. Real fur comes with a hefty price tag, but is absolutely exquisite to look at and touch, as well as keeping you remarkably warm in winter. Despite these, I am happy to put on my faux fur vest and be at peace knowing that none of my furry friends were harmed at the expense of my enjoyment.

Fur can be a difficult fabric to wear for a lot of people because it is an extremely extravagant and pompous material. To me, the faux fur vest is a more subtle way of adding some luxury to a simple outfit (e.g., jeans and tee combo) or a decadent complement to an evening look. When you are styling a fur vest, it's a good idea to take into consideration the type of fur used for the vest. Long haired furs tend to give that shaggy, bolder look, while shorter haired furs give you a cleaner, more casual and chic look. I also personally prefer a fur vest that comes in natural colours (versus blue, pink, purple etc) to preserve its authenticity. Visually, I like the look of fur vest over a fur coat due to less bulky volume. Without the added fur arms, the fur vest produces a fresher, more polished and a better balanced profile

As winter settles in, a little fur vest can go a long way and  will be a great investment for the many winters to come. I hope you too will find a warm "friend" to accompany you in the cold, battle against the wind and provide you with lots of comfort!
