Black & White with added Sparkle

Hi everyone! Happy Monday! Hope you all had a lovely weekend. Ok, so winter is definitely here because the temperature continues to drop, and the rain periods are getting heavier and more frequent. It was only a couple of weekends ago that I could still walk around in short-sleeves or even sleeveless tops, and now...summer is like a distant dream, replaced quickly by grey clouds, chilly winds and mild drizzles throughout the day. The silver lining?...well, rare moments of warmth when the rain takes a break and the sun peeps out, wrapping yourself in a cozy knit and enjoying a hot chocolate =)  I love the simple things in everyday life, and they will continue to put a smile on my face no matter how cold the weather gets!
I am a believer in the weather making a huge impact on our moods, thus also influencing the way we dress. I am  determined not to be a sloppy dresser in winter months, so to energise the spirit, I decided to play with some contrasting black and whites, along with some added sparkles. Everyone loves a bit of bling from time to time and I am no exception. Most would reserve the sparkles for night time glamour but I love to bring out some shiny pieces even during the day!

Black and white has for a long time been a classic colour combination. This highly contrasted colour blocking scheme continues to be the perfect choice to fall back on when you want to look ultra sharp and chic. I personally love this combination because it is simple, easy to achieve, and yet incredibly effective in creating a well executed ensemble.

Black and white, are they colours? This has been a much debated topic with several houses of theory. I don't want to bore you too much with science, but it may be useful to point out that they are interesting properties (that's how I like to think of them. For simplicity and consistency, let's continue to call them colours =))

When you are looking to combine these two colours, I would recommend considering their individual strengths, along with your body shape and mix them in the best possible way to accentuate your assets. For example, black creates a slimming visual effect, if you are top heavy, wearing black on the top will help to achieve a much better visual balance. I would also look into garments with black and white patterns as these can be super fun and versatile to wear.
I hope you too will give black and white a go, and find this timeless colour juxtaposition an effortless way to have some fun and look stylish at the same time!
