A Dash of Mustard for Australia Day

Hi everyone! Happy Australia day! Hope you had a great day off and spent it chilling in the backyard with a traditional snag on the barbie and a beer in the stubbie :)

We celebrate our official national day annually on the 26th of January. This date commemorates the arrival of the First Fleet at Sydney Cove in 1788 and the proclamation at that time of British sovereignty over the eastern seaboard of New Holland. Since our national colours are green and gold, I thought I would do my part of honouring our beautiful country today by wearing something gold....well...close enough... :P

Mustard yellow is a recently discovered love for me. It comes in various shades, but  the colour is just so rich and warm that it really makes a fantastic transitional season colour or just a great accent colour to pair against the more conservative black or navy. From accessories to tops, skirts and dresses, mustard yellow has been making its way into many designers colour pallet.
If you are a little unsure about this colour, try it out on an accessory piece first (e.g., scarf). Choose a more muted shade and pair it with complementary colours such as black, navy blue, dark purple, burgundy and brown. Be bold and experiment, cos you might just discover that mustard yellow can be a fun addition to your wardrobe!
