Where Fashion Meets Art...

Hi everyone, happy Wednesday! Hope you are having a fabulous day! I'm slowly transitioning into fall with cozy sweaters and cute booties. Fall is the perfect season to show off some animal print, and today I've paired leopard print with leather. I went out for a walk and happily stumbled upon this beautiful mural in front of the Covenant House.

After receiving a friendly background intro by the local team in the area, I learnt that this establishment is one of NYC's youth homeless shelters. It serves and helps many homeless teens, teenage single mums and troubled youths in the city.

Living in one of the busiest cities in the world, everything can be so transient, people are ambitious and sometimes self-indulgent; it's refreshing to find places that give back to the community right in the middle of Manhattan. I absolutely love this mural. If these walls could talk, they would portray a courageous and optimistic message. Through beautiful colors and pictures, this is an artistic interpretation of hope, determination and compassion, as well as a reflection of these kids' identities. The artist who painted this mural is Katie Yamasaki and I was greatly touched by her work.

I think fashion and art have unparalleled similarities in many many ways. Fashion in my humble opinion is really a wearable form of art. Feeling inspired admiring this mural, I knew it would make the perfect statement against today's outfit. Hope you are finding inspirations everyday that motivate you to be better, stronger and happier, or simply puts a smile on your face! :)
