Hi everyone! Hope you are having a fabulous Thursday! I spent the past weekend in Chicago, a city that I love fondly. When I was in college, I went on an exchange program to study at the University of Illinois, Urbana Champaign. Although it was only a short semester, I really enjoyed every moment of this unique and invaluable experience. I used to drive up to Chicago every now and then to spend the weekend there. Years later it's easy to tell that this beautiful city never lost any of its charm. I like to think of visiting Chicago as catching up with an old friend that I haven't seen in years. It's familiar and comforting, just like the good old times, as if nothing's changed :)
I spent quite a bit of time walking around the luscious Millennium Park, soaking in the last rays of summer and marveling at many of of its funky yet modern architectural designs; including the magnificent, but cheeky Cloud Gate (aka "The Bean").
As you wonder down closer to the water, Navy Pier is something you will not want to miss. A great spot for both tourists and locals to hang out, drink, get in on the Ferris wheel action and of course stroll along the pier to admire the Chicago city skyline.
If there's one thing you should try in Chicago, I highly recommend the Chicago style deep dish pizza. No where else in the world makes pizza like this :) So tasty and cheesy!
Now, on the fashion front, plaid is the upcoming fall trend for 2013, and what a perfect way for me to usher in fall with this cute plaid blazer. To add some depth to the outfit, I mixed in various materials such as leather, velvet and metal with this subtle plaid; focusing on a warmer color palette.
All in all, what a great way to start fall! Thank you Chicago!
