This impressive architectural landmark and 'source of knowledge' is located in the Stephen A. Schwarzman Building on 42nd street. It is also known as the main branch, and houses an extensive collection of resources in humanities, social sciences, as well as a circulating children’s collection. It was a treat for me to take a stroll through the rows and rows of books, all neatly lined up on the shelves, waiting to quench the visitor's thirst for knowledge. In this enormous space, I found it quite serene to be surrounded by the pockets of warm glow cast from the desk lamps. I imagine this would be an ideal place for some quiet reading on a rainy day.
Given how grand this library is, I thought a black and gold combination with peplum should match this regal standard. If you missed out on the peplum trend over summer and fall, it's not too late. Grab a peplum knit that will not only keep you warm on cold days, it also works hard to create the feminine, hour-glass silhouette we all love.
Black and gold is one of my all time favourite color combinations. It is a rich, classic mixture and super easy to achieve. When mixing these two colors together, I like to pair them with fabrics that come in a rich texture or interesting patterns to play on their lush characteristics (particularly for the colder months).
With all the festivities coming up, maybe it's time to bring out the old favorite - Black & Gold!
