Red Chilli Pants

Hi everyone! Hope you had a lovely break over the weekend and a smooth Monday! For many years now, I've been searching for a pair of red pants. Now, when it comes to the colour red, I am extremely picky. The shade must be just perfect to get my tick of approval. Too often, it is too dark, too light, too loud, too muted...omg, the list goes on. As you can see, the selection process was stringent and thus for the longest time, my wardrobe was red pants-less.
Ok, many of you may wonder, what's with the obsession of red pants, or even, what is the obsession with getting that exact shade of  red? Well, red is one of my favourite colours of all time. For many people, when all colours fail them, they will reach for black. For me, when all else fails, I go with red because it is the "classic" colour for me.
I personally think red is quite a special colour in many respects. We know that colour can trigger emotion. There are a number of common connotations associated with red; passion, love, heat, fire, beauty, anger, daring, urgency and excitement, just to name a few. In my culture, red is a very festive and lucky colour; happiness, new years and celebrations will most certainly contain the colour red.

I have also learnt from a long time ago that colour is a very special and important part of fashion. It is the first thing we notice about a garment. When we go shopping, we look for colour first, then fabric, silhouette, and finally detailing. Now, here is an amazing fact, we are so sensitive to colour that a person with normal vision can distinguish over 10,000 colours, 160 pure hues, 200 greys, and 20 degrees of brightness! Alright, this blog is not a science lesson, but I am just excited about finding the right shade of red that resonates with me! :)
Red lover or not, you can't deny that it is attractive. If you are in need of some attention, put something red on you or close to you, and you will be noticed! If you are out there searching through a sea of red shades, don't be disappointed when you don't find the right one straight away. Take your time and make sure you end up with the right "hottie"!
